What Does Pro Business Mean?

I'm pro business in that I believe if you make a million from hard work and treating your neighbor right then God bless you. However, there are too many people making money on the backs of others. Most of us are pro business in that we support the free market. But in today's world we have more rigged markets than free markets. In other words, crony capitalism. What about the local merchants who tried to keep Walmart out? Say you want to be a taxi driver in New York; well it's not that easy you need licenses and permits. Think it's about safety? Think again, it's more about rigging the market and the Taxi Cartel. Speaking of cartels one might say that some unions are a cartel, but that's another story.
I see so many merchants complaining about excessive socialism and they're right we should complain. Yet they have no problem with socialism for the rich. Take a look at the stimulus packages, or what about the big bankster bailouts? Oh and what about those merchants who default on their SBA loans?

Does pro business mean that it's okay to take unfair advantage of others? Is child labor okay because the child can always quit? Is it fair that many medications in America are nine times the price as those south of the border? But hey you can pay the price or die.

Crony capitalist complain about regulations except the ones that benefit them. Personally it makes me sick to my stomach that someone can sit and vote on a regulatory board when they have a dog in the fight. Some regs like those that keep toxic waste out of playgrounds are good. However, I don’t agree with regs that are more about generating government revenue or protecting merchants than about safety. It’s hard to believe that some localities require you to get a permit before you can add a deck to your home.

Granted businesses have to make a profit. There is nothing wrong with being rich as long as you make your money the way the All Mighty intended. I remember something about the sweat of your brow. But crony capitalism will strangle a free society whereas free enterprise will help preserve it. Remember, preserving the free society is the mission. That’s why FDR did what he did. FDR understood the goal in dealing with the Crony Capitalist just as Reagan understood the goal in regards to “peace through strength “ in dealing with the Soviets.

So the next time someone talks about being pro business, ask him or her if they're a free market capitalist or a crony capitalist.
